About Tournament

Let's get the under 1700 players to Expert and beyond in LaoTzu!:
I am running this tournament to help you to improve your skills and build up the LaoTzu community of players. I will write some post-game analysis comments in the games, and I am also planning to get some top LaoTzu players to give advice as well.

Here are some tips for starting:
1) I strongly recommend installing the SMTuning Firefox plug-in by Mekk, which among other things allows you to save positions to study in the Analyze tab and review games in dark mode to see what the players saw:

2) Always remember to review the opponent's previous move to see if there was a visible change to the position. More importantly, you need to also look at the Material tab to see if a piece was dropped back onto the board.
3) Analyze visibility effects of your next move, particular calculating which squares would become hidden again. This must be done manually since it is not displayed in any previews.

Have fun!

Feel free to ping me (Abacist) with any questions about LaoTzu.
