Feb. 9, 2009Recent action in team league tournaments: Standard chess league season 4 has finished already. Division 1 was won by the Fat Man's Club, edging out the Dragon Masters. Division 2 and 3 were won by The US Marshalls and dílo en español, respectively. Dreadnaughts B won the B team league. Crosstable here. Season 2 of the Chess Variants league was dominated by Army of Mustard-seeds, who took first place in Atomic, Benedict, and Crazyhouse. The WILD WILD West won the Suicide league. Crosstable here. League tournaments still in progress include Chess960 league season 4 and the 2008 World Cup.
Feb. 9, 2009A lot has happened since this page was last updated. I'll try to catch up, starting with the Dropout tournaments. The 2007 Chess960 dropout was won by doodledandy (repeat champion!) with 3 MP, followed by pjl1015 and dmichael. Tournament page here. In the Barry Lockwood Memorial Dropout (2008 Variants Dropout) there was a tie for first at the end with Buckaroo Bob and SpeedRacer both at 6 MP. Chess Chaser and langhab tied for 3rd. May 14, 2008The winner of the 2006 Chess960 dropout was doodledandy, with 4 MP, followed by dmichael with 5 and Apocalypse with 6. Congrats.

Feb. 13 2008The 2006 Standard Chess dropout is finished. The winner was fer even, with 3 MP. Congratulations. In second place was saxon with 5 MP. Tying for 3rd with 6 MP were inexorable and C.H.O'D. Schlechter. See the tournament page here.
Feb. 6 2008The second season of the Chess Variants League is getting under way. See the tournament page here. Seven teams are competing, and four variants are being played.
Jan. 14 2008The 2008 Chess Variants dropout tournament is being played in honor of Barry Lockwood, who recently passed away. Full members can join starting now, standard members can join starting Jan. 28 2008. Tournament begins Feb. 4 2008. Jan. 3 2008Yet another new variant has been added. This one is called capture chess. (It was fist called anti-suicide, but the name was quickly changed.) You can read about it in this forum post.
Dec. 10 2007League results: Standard league season 3 was won by the Dragon Masters, followed by The Fat Man's Club, then Club Rey Feroz A. Division Two was won by Dreadnaughts A, Division Three by star trek team A, and Division Four by Army of Mustard-seeds.Chess960 league season 3 was won by Tao the Watercourse Way, with Chess960 All Stars in second and FRIENDS aROUNDd tHe WORLD A in third. Division two of this League went to Team Great Britain with a narrow win over Army of Mustard-seeds. Congratulations to all.

Nov. 29 2007Tournament bonanza is back. From now to the end of December, the minimum time between mini-tournaments for standard members has been reduced from six weeks to one.
Oct. 20 2007The 2008 Standard Chess dropout tournament is currently recruiting full members. Standard members can join starting Nov. 5 2007. Tournament begins Nov. 12 2007, or when 160 members join. For details, or to join, see here.

July 5 2007A new variant has been added. SchemingMind members can now play Makruk (also known as Thai Chess or Makruk Thai).
June 29 2007SchemingMind is now officially affiliated with the British Federation for Correspondence Chess (BFCC). It seems like this may be a first step in the greater integration of SchemingMind with with ICCF (the International Correspondence Chess Federation). For more information, see this forum post.
Feb. 6 2007The 2007 Chess Variants Dropout tournament is now open for full members. This year's tournament features more variants and less dropouts than previous years, as the number of rounds has been increased to 7 while the dropout threshold is raised to 18 MP. Jan. 25 2007A change to the way ratings are calculated will be implemented as of Feb. 1 2007. RD values will now increase less slowly for inactive players. Also, the changes will be made retroactively, so players are likely to have a small change to their rating history. For details, see this forum thread.
