Nc3 { Mick Holmes: You should have a good chance as I'm an 80 year old bloke in Lydney , Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire,.........anywhere near you?? } 2... e6 { nammy: No, I am in the East Midlands in Bourne, Lincolnshire. } 3. e3 { Mick Holmes: Do you prefer to chat,or would you rather I shut up.Some like to chat and then there are those who don't even say hello. } 3... Bd6 { nammy: I don't mind some chatting, so what's the gossip!! Probably why I make so many daft moves! } 4. e4 { Mick Holmes: Have you ever played a bloke as old as me before ( 81 )? } 4... c6 { nammy: Not sure about any men but I used to play a lady who was in her 80's. And I won't tell you my age but I was born in June 1957! } 5. e5 { Mick Holmes: '57 eh, that's when I when I got married. } 5... Bc7 { nammy: Must have been a good year. } 6. Nf3 { Mick Holmes: It sure was, but they're not so goood just lately. } 6... Ne7 { nammy: They certainly aren't. I hate to think what the future could hold for my grandson and his generation. I think I grew up in the best decades. } 7. Bg5 { Mick Holmes: My best period was as a teenager in the 50's especially 57 when I merried a lovely woman. } 7... a6 { nammy: I guess each generation will say their childhood and teenage years were the best decades to have grown up in. But that is only because they didn't know the years we grew up in! } 8. Na4 { Mick Holmes: Never thought of it that way, sounds to me as if you're probably right. } 8... O-O { nammy: Been looking at this game for a while and thinking whatever I do I am backing myself into a corner. } 9. b3 { Mick Holmes: I think you did the best thing.I'm on Shank's pony now, a girl smashed into my car last night on my way back from the hospital (Groan) } 9... Nd7 { nammy: I hope you are ok. Nothing serious to you or the car. And my internet went down again last Saturday morning and didn't come back until late this afternoon. } 10. Qd3 { Mick Holmes: I'm ok thank you but my car has changed it's appearance some what.Garage said it would take at least a week.Just when I need it most to visit wife in hospital(groan) } 10... Qe8 { nammy: Let's hope the garage gets it fixed sooner rather than later. Is it a long trip to the hospital for you? } 11. h4 { Mick Holmes: No, only when I have no car and have to walk up two very steep hills with my Angina, not nice at 81.How are YOU by the way? } 11... Ng6 { nammy: I hope you get your car back soon. I am very well thank you but I'm sure 4 days of looking after my grandson will soon tire me out but I am looking forward to it. } 12. O-O-O { Mick Holmes: More bad news, garage ain't even started on my car yet. They said they've not had the authorisation from the other driver's insurance yet!!!! } 12... b5 { nammy: That sounds to me like they don't want to pay up! The other driver was insured I hope. } 13. Nc5 { Mick Holmes: It's ok, she IS insured and everything is above board and they're delivering me a curtesey car this afternoon. } 13... Nb6 { nammy: I hope they have loaned you a nice car. } 14. h5 { Mick Holmes: It came today, a week late. Brand spanking new. A bit different from driving my 11yr old banger. } 14... Nh8 { nammy: Enjoy it while you have it. Our car is an old X regards. We will only change it when we have to. Got a problem with the car radio turning itself on at the moment. Even when the car is parked up it happens. Taking it to a garage hat deals with auto electrical repairs next week. They are going to remove some part and send it away for repair. Should take around a week, so I hope we can still use the car during that time. } 15. h6 { Mick Holmes: Yep, some times, cars are like computers, enough to drive you up the wall.Going to see boxing on TV now, G'night. } 15... Ng6 { nammy: I hope you enjoyed the boxing. The only sport I watch is cycling. } 16. hxg7 { Mick Holmes: My TV book said boxing was on but it wasn't. So I went to bed. I did lots of cycling as a teenager. } 16... Kxg7 { nammy: I like to cycle now. I'm a fair-weather cyclist but when I do go out my rides are usually round 20 mile long. } 17. Qd2 { Mick Holmes: As teenager, I rode 20 mile a day return 6 days a week (120 miles) to work and on my fortnight's holiday, I'd do up to a 1000 Youth Hosteling round Wales or East Anglia plus trips to Bournemouth or Winchester after work. I lived in Southampton then. } 17... a5 { nammy: I used to bike t work with some of my jobs and for going round town. Now I walk round town and just use my bike for longer rides. And we never use the car round town unless we have to. } 18. Bh6+ { Mick Holmes: Is Bourne a big place? Lydney is a small market town - what Americans would call, a "One Horse town" } 18... Kh8 { nammy: Same here with Bourne, it is called a market town but the number of market stalls we get each week barely reaches double figures. There are very few of the well known High Street name shops. Lots of empty boarded up shops and the best things abut the place are the roads out! } 19. Bxf8 { Mick Holmes: Our market days, on Saturdays only have about half a dozen stalls and the fishman is only there one Saturday a month and I enjoy fish. } 19... Qxf8 { nammy: We have market days on Saturday and Thursday. The Saturday market has less stalls that the Thursday one. I sometimes wonder why they bother. } 20. Qh6 { Mick Holmes: That's what I often think, what with all that erecting of frames and canopies. } 20... Qg8 { nammy: I almost fell for that and would have lost another queen. When we first moved to Bourne the market was a proper street market and must have had around 50 stalls. Then they moved it to an off road site and the stall numbers just dropped. } 21. g3 { Mick Holmes: You wouldn't have lost a queen, we'd have just swapped queens........I think } 21... Ne7 { nammy: I think you would have been right. We both keep the leading ladies for a while longer! } 22. Qf6+ { Mick Holmes: You ought to have left your Kt where it was, I think you've lost him now, Sorry. Does 'im in doors play chess? } 22... Qg7 { nammy: No. Him indoors doesn't see the point in playing chess. he says it's too complicated. He sticks to playing Alphajax (like scrabble) on his phone. I play chess on this site and a game called Lexulous which is another version of scrabble. } 23. Qxe7 { Mick Holmes: Tell 'im indoors chess ain't complicated otherwise I wouldn't play it.I have sent you the PM. } 23... a4 { nammy: He never listens to anything I tell him. He got a lap top over 3 years ago and I have been trying to learn him how to use it since. He can do some things with it...if he tries! But he says he doesn't know how and that I have got no patience! } 24. Qxc7 { Mick Holmes: Well I've had mine about 6 or 7 years and all I can do is e-mail,chess,send snaps and thats it, oh, and a bit of surfing. } 24... h6 { nammy: He can do the basics if he tries. I think he is afraid he might do something wrong and wipe it! I'm no expert but I can manage and I ask for advice if I get stuck. } 25. Qxb6 { Mick Holmes: Sounds as if we're both at about similar levels as regards computer literacy,if that's the right phrase. } 25... f5 { nammy: I think it's the right phrase. I not technical but as long as I can keep my computer running I'm Ok and I seem to learn something new every day. I even had a bit of help from one of our local PCSO's! } 26. Nd3 { Mick Holmes: What are they, auxillary policemen. Both my sons in law get me out of trouble } 26... Bd7 { nammy: Yes, Police Community Support Officer. Had a visit from one of our local PCSO's a few weeks ago, about fraud and people being scammed. Apparently after a raid on some offices in London for fraud, the powers that be found the nasty people had details of thousands of people nation wide who they were going to try and scam and I was one of those people they had the details of. } 27. Rh3 { Mick Holmes: Are you now all prepared, ready and waiting,or have they been scared off? } 27... Be8 { nammy: The PCSO went through a form with me and he thinks I am low risk at being scammed. I'm too wary! } 28. Nc5 { Mick Holmes: Good for you, but it don't effect you much as it's US grey headed ones the scammers go after. } 28... Bg6 { nammy: That is what the PCSO said, I was a bit younger than they usually go for. But he said they probably got my and other peoples details from websites who sold details of their members on to third parties. } 29. Nxe6 { Mick Holmes: M.m.m.m, I expect that's how it works, crafty lot ain't they. } 29... Qe7 { nammy: They sure are. I have since unsubscribed to the email newsletters I was getting from companies and I report junk emails as phishing scams. Since I have started doing that most of the junk emails and junk phone calls I had been getting have stopped. } 30. Nf4 { Mick Holmes: I don't even know if I am getting e-mail news letters,I'd love to get less or none of the rubbisn. } 30... Bf7 { nammy: I am getting a lot less now. } 31. Rxh6+ Kg7 32. Rxc6 b4 33. Ne6+ { Mick Holmes: Have sent a PM. } 33... Kg6 { nammy: I got it thanks, did you get my reply? } 34. Nc7+ { Mick Holmes: Got it thanks. My age is the trouble, it ain't nice getting old you'll find. } 34... Kh5 { nammy: Isn't that classed as age discrimination? If you have not claimed on it, they should be in the wrong for the increase. } 35. Nxa8 { Mick Holmes: IT ought to be but it's always been done so I guess they have a way round it as isial. } 35... Kg4 { nammy: They usually find a way to make it difficult for the customer. Trying to put older people off driving I guess! } 36. Be2 { Mick Holmes: I've sent you a PM. } 36... Qe8 { nammy: I sent you a reply. } 37. Nh2+ { Mick Holmes: Thank you Nammy, sorry to have burdened you with my troubles again but as I said, I wonder if I'm losing my marbles.a wee dram now and off to roost,G'night. } 37... Kh3 { nammy: No problem and you aren't losing your marbles you are going through a difficult time. And I hope the wee dram helped you to sleep. I may have a glass of wine tonight. } 38. Rh6+ { Mick Holmes: Hope you enjoyed your wine last night. It's starting to feel a bit Autumney in the mornings now, don't you reckon? } 38... Kg2 { nammy: I did enjoy my win end have got another glass tonight. I am the only one who drinks it so when I open a bottle I have a glass each evening until it is gone. I think it is starting to get autumnal. The leaves are changing, cooler in the mornings and evenings and the harvest well under way. And I forgot to mention the evenings getting darker earlier. } 39. Bf1+ { Mick Holmes: Yep, approaching the dark nights as you say. In fact, last night, I actually put my cardigan on as my arms were feeling quite chilly. } 39... Kxf2 { nammy: It will be time to alter the clocks before we know it. } 40. Rd2+ { Mick Holmes: M.m.m.m I think it's October, innit? Do you know your King's tresspassing? } 40... Kxg3 { nammy: It is October, then it will be back to the dark nights. My king is just having a look round! } 41. Rd3+ { Mick Holmes: Tell him to be careful then, my game keeper is trigger happy. } 41... Kf4 { nammy: Not many places he or any of my other pieces can go! } 42. Rh4+ { Mick Holmes: The fat lady ain't sung yet so don't worry. } 42... Kg5 { nammy: I hope her singing voice is better than mine. } 43. Qh6# { Mick Holmes: I'm sure you'd out sing me.The vicar said I had a voice like an angel as a kid in his choir, you'd never believe it now tho'.Say if you'd like another game. } { nammy: I would like another game but I can't challenge you. } { Mick Holmes: That's probably because there's too much difference in our grades but if you would really like another, I expect I could challenge.........shall I? } 1-0
