The SchemingMind.com journal is intended to be a collection of orginal articles about chess and chess variants; and chess puzzles, problems and compositions. Anyone may submit an article to the journal, however acceptance is at the discretion of the editorial team.

  • Articles about chess clubs or leagues

There is also a section of the journal for chess puzzles, problems and compositions. These will be selected by our editorial team from those posted in the puzzles forum and checked for accuracy before publication.

Instructions for Authors

Please submit your articles in HTML format but with minimal formatting (some images may be included). The SchemingMind house style will be applied - other style information may be removed before publication.

The article format allows for clickable links to a dynamic chess board, if you wish to use the board in your article please embed a FEN string in square brackets where you'd like the link to appear.

Members of SchemingMind.com who have an article accepted by the journal will be awarded three months of free full membership (the free membership offer does not apply to chess puzzles).

In order to maintain the quality of the Journal, articles may be subject to a peer review process before they are accepted for publication.

Copyright

All material submitted should be either original or submitted with the permission of the copyright holder. Classic games may be submitted, however all annotations must be original.

Authors retain the copyright on their work after submission and may publish it elsewhere, however by submitting work to SchemingMind.com you are granting the site pemission to publish your work in perpituity and royalty free.

Please note that unlike the forums here on SchemingMind.com, it is possible to access the journal without being signed on to the site, so your article may be indexed by search engines.

SchemingMind.com will not knowingly publish copyright material without appropriate consent, however journal articles and puzzles may come from a number of sources. Please inform the webmaster of any copyright violations and the offending material will be removed.
